Public policy article copywriting - Cencora, Inc.
The original ask was for a 1,000-word piece on the Medicare Physician Self-Referral Law, commonly known as the Stark law, which prohibits physicians from referring Medicare patients to services in which they have a financial interest. I researched/wrote/edited a draft, then provided it to Cencora’s U.S. Public Policy team.
Surprisingly (and without warning) they decided to table the article due to the increasingly complicated dynamics surrounding the subject matter and industry conflicts that were emerging, particularly within Cencora’s customer base.
However, we still had an empty three-page spread in the magazine, and the U.S. Public Policy team wanted a public policy article.
Switching topics on the fly – with the same original deadline now requiring less than a week’s turnaround for editorial – I coordinated with my branding and creative leadership to clear time in my production schedule, then dove headfirst into the project, researching the impact of recent legislation proposals regarding reimbursements for oncology practices. This collaborative effort resulted in an informative 1,086-word Policy & Advocacy updates article appearing in the Winter 2025 issue.
